Fuxing Group manufactures both corrugated cardboard cartons and PP (polypropylene) corrugated hollow boxes, so importers often ask us directly: which is cheaper? The honest answer: it depends entirely on whether the box comes back.
Take a typical 600 × 400 × 300 mm produce box. Representative figures for a mid-volume program:

You will see suppliers advertise "50+ trips". In a laboratory, yes — PP does not wear out that fast. But in real produce logistics boxes get lost, cracked by forklifts, or simply never come back, so we prefer to plan on a conservative 5–10 trips. The math still works: amortized over 5–10 trips the box itself costs $0.40–0.80 per trip; add return logistics (folded boxes cut return freight by ~70 %) and washing and a typical closed loop lands at roughly $0.50–1.00 per trip. Against a $0.80 single-use carton, that means break-even around the 5th–7th trip — every completed trip after that is direct saving, and any trip beyond 10 is pure upside. If your loop cannot reliably bring a box back at least 5 times, stay with cardboard: the economics genuinely favor it.
Use returnable PP boxes for the domestic legs (farm → packhouse → export packer), then transfer into printed cardboard cartons for the one-way international leg. You get PP durability where loops exist and cardboard economics where they don't. As a group that makes both under one roof, we can spec the pair so the internal dimensions nest perfectly.

市面上常见"可循环50次以上"的宣传。实验室条件下PP材质确实不会那么快损耗,但真实的生鲜物流中,箱子会丢失、被叉车压裂、或干脆没能回来——所以我们更愿意按保守的5–10次来做规划。即便如此这笔账依然成立:按5–10次摊销,箱体本身每次$0.40–0.80;算上回程物流(折叠后回程运费省约70%)和清洗,典型闭环项目实际单次成本约$0.50–1.00。对比$0.80的一次性纸箱,意味着大约第5–7次使用时打平——之后每完成一次循环都是净节省,超过10次更是纯赚。如果您的线路无法可靠地让箱子回来至少5次,那就老老实实用纸箱:这种场景下纸箱在经济上确实更划算。
国内段(基地→包装厂→出口打包)用可循环PP箱,国际单程段换装印刷纸箱。有闭环的地方用PP的耐久,没闭环的地方用纸箱的经济性。两种箱都在我们集团内生产,内尺寸可以做到完美套配。
